Fortune's Weave Path Switching Guide

Learn how to switch between Cai, Dietrich, Theodora, and Leda in Fortune's Weave through the Pale Raven's perch and shared progression.

Fortune's Weave lets you progress multiple hero stories in parallel, but you guide only one hero at a time. Between matches, visit the Pale Raven's perch in Dagsion to switch between Cai, Dietrich, Theodora, and Leda. This makes route switching a progression tool: you can develop another hero, recruit more allies, and return to the current story without treating the first route choice as permanent.

How path switching works

Nintendo's official tips confirm the basic flow:

  1. Finish or leave the current between-match period.
  2. Return to Dagsion.
  3. Visit the Pale Raven's perch.
  4. Select another hero's storyline.
  5. Advance that path and its route-specific activity.
  6. Return to the perch when you want to continue another hero.

The game has four hero paths:

HeroRoute-specific activity
CaiCatch and care for rideable animals, farm, and trade harvests.
DietrichAcquire and strengthen Combat Arts by defeating enemies.
TheodoraRecruit soldiers in settlements and deploy battalions.
LedaPerform in taverns for rewards or information about secret locations.

Use the routes hub for the route comparison and the paralogues guide for tracking side progression.

Why switch paths

Switching is useful when:

  • another hero has a route-specific activity that fits your current goal;
  • you want to grow the wider army before the final battle;
  • a recruitment or preparation task is easier to pursue on another path;
  • you want to experience parallel stories without abandoning the current one;
  • you need another hero's progression before returning to a difficult match.

Nintendo's official article says that travelling back in time to guide another hero can bring more allies into the army before the final confrontation. Keep the route, match, and recruitment state in your notes so you know why you switched.

Final battle context

Nintendo identifies Balor and his undead forces as the final threat all paths lead toward. If the final battle is difficult, the official advice is to guide another hero to the present, explore that perspective, and strengthen the army with additional allies before trying again.

This does not establish a required route order or a numeric final-battle checklist. It does establish a useful strategy: route switching is part of preparation, not only a story menu.

What remains unknown

The official sources checked here do not publish:

  • a required order for the four paths;
  • exact path-switching chapter thresholds;
  • a complete shared-progress formula;
  • every route-specific recruit;
  • a full final-battle map or Balor stat table.

Do not turn a preferred route order into a universal requirement without dated in-game evidence.
